Atmosphere - Tyson Fisher

Iridescent clouds are one of those unusual atmospheric phenomenons that I pay close attention to on my trips. They're sometimes hard to view as they most often form near the sun. Sunglasses and/or using something to block the sun helps. The colors in the clouds are the result of water or ice particals scattering the light as it passes through. When the droplets are uniform in size the effect is seen as colorful pastels. I made this image using a telephoto lens aimed to the left of the sun where new clouds took on a life of their own as they ebbed, flowed and danced in the afternoon sky, Owyhee Canyonlands, Oregon
