Toutle River Valley Moonrise
Condensing steam rises out of the crater as alpine glow bathes the snowcapped summit of St.Helens. Following the 1980 blast, the ash and mud laden valley has been eroded and transformed into a maze of hummocks and newly carved drainages: Castle Creek (right), North Fork Toutle River (middle), and Coldwater Creek (left).
